  • My Heat Went Out—How Can I Troubleshoot It Myself?

Here are a few items to check off your list before calling in the Bryant® experts at Bob’s:

    • Check the power—it sounds silly, but sometimes the problem is as simple as a tripped breaker
    • Double-check the thermostat—make sure your device is set to heat and not cool, and that the fan is set to auto
    • Replace your air filter—see below for more, but sometimes a clogged filter can block fresh, warm air from circulating
  • How Do I Know If It’s Time to Replace My Furnace?

There are a few factors, but the simple answer is: It will tell you when it needs to be replaced. The first major sign is if your current system is 15 – 20 years old—older systems lose efficiency and are more susceptible to breakdowns. Other signs include a furnace that needs frequent repairs, a sharp increase in your energy bills, and whether your system makes strange rattling or scraping sounds.

  • Is Furnace Maintenance Really That Important?

Yes! Just like you take your car in for tuneups and oil changes, you should schedule annual service for your furnace. It ensures all your system’s working parts are cleaned and tuned, which boosts its energy efficiency. Our team also catches minor issues within your system and fixes them before they worsen or cause breakdowns. It’s an easy way to keep the heat on no matter how cold winter gets.

  • How Often Should I Replace My Air Filter?

In general, you want to replace your filters once every one to three months. The reason is because your filter traps airborne pollutants as they circulate through your house. It helps keep your indoor air clean, but over time, those pollutants can clog the filter and block airflow. Swapping in a new one every couple of months keeps the clean air coming and keeps your system working efficiently.

  • I Need a New Furnace—How Do I Know Which One to Buy?

We get it: There are a lot of choices when it comes to furnaces (and A/Cs, for that matter). That’s why, when you work with our team, we’ll help you through every step of the process. From finding the perfect-size system to laying out all your options, you can rely on us from start to finish.
